What is MM2H?
MM2H is a programme for foreigners to stay in Malaysia long term. Its main Silver, Gold and Platinum categories have different fixed-deposit amounts, minimum residential purchase prices, validity periods, and employment and business conditions.
Under the current Silver, Gold and Platinum categories, purchasing and retaining a residential property after approval is a programme condition. State and local foreign-purchase rules apply separately from the programme’s minimum purchase prices.

What is PVIP?
PVIP (Malaysia Premium Visa Programme) allows long-term stays in Malaysia as well as employment and lawful business activities. The current Immigration Department FAQ sets no age limit or minimum stay requirement.
Its financial requirements differ from MM2H, including a RM1,000,000 fixed deposit, income or financial-eligibility requirements, and participation fees. Applications must go through a PVIP operator licensed by the Malaysian Immigration Department.

Choose a programme that suits your medium- and long-term plans by considering your purpose and length of stay, property purchases, employment and business activities, family circumstances and financial plans, rather than treating one programme as inherently better than the other.
MM2H, PVIP and property purchases
Buying a residential property is part of the MM2H conditions. PVIP permits property purchases but does not make them a programme requirement.
For MM2H in particular, look beyond the programme’s minimum purchase price. Consider state and local foreign-purchase rules, the property’s value as a long-term asset, liveability and future rental demand.
